Nexergy Continues Portable Power Seminar Series

January 18, 2007

COLUMBUS, OH (USA) — Nexergy, a leading designer, integrator, and manufacturer of battery packs and chargers, announces their 2007 multi-city technical seminar series devoted exclusively to the technical issues surrounding battery pack and charger design. With the resounding success of the 2006 seminar series, Nexergy has expanded the program to give design engineers in multiple geographic areas an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in battery pack and charger design and manufacture.

Open to designers of portable electronics, the seminar series covers all aspects of battery pack and charger design — including performance and safety — and will be led by Chris Turner, Director of Battery Technology, and Lon Schneider, Director of Product Development. Attendees will receive a detailed presentation on all issues related to designing the optimal battery pack and charger, including:

                    • Battery cell selection and cell supplier overview
                    • Battery cell validation testing and performance
                    • RoHS
                    • Battery shipping regulations
                    • Lithium safety and battery safety parameters
                    • Fuel gauging
                    • Battery pack production testing
                    • Battery charging and chargers

Recent news regarding the safety of Li-ion battery packs and recalls of certain batteries will be explored, with an emphasis on safety circuits, validation and testing, cell balancing, and the repercussions of counterfeit battery cells. Attendees will also be given the opportunity for one-on-one conversations with the Nexergy engineers to inquire about specific portable power applications.

“Technology in the field of portable power is changing very rapidly,” says Nexergy CEO Phil Glandon. “The response that we received from our round of seminars in 2006 was overwhelmingly positive. By educating engineers on the intricacies relating to performance and safety of their power source, we can give them the information they need to ensure their battery pack and charger operates safely and gives the customer the performance that is expected —time after time.”

With more than 20 years of experience, Nexergy has developed portable power sources for a variety of applications that enable electronic products to be more dependable, smaller, lighter, and longer running. The 2007 seminar series will make
its debut January 31st in Atlanta, GA. Portland, OR will host the second seminar on March 7th. Additional dates will be added shortly. For more information on Nexergy’s seminar series, contact Ann Dodson of Nexergy at adodson@nexergy.com, or call
