Nexergy Engineer Earns New IPC CertificationSeptember 4, 2007 Company Makes Strategic Decision to Develop In-House Training Capability
As part of an ongoing drive to improve all aspects of Nexergy’s production capabilities, Moose obtained status as a certified trainer of the IPC Joint Industry Standard (J-STD-001) – Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies (www.ipc.org). While the company has always adhered to IPC standards in the manufacturing of its PCAs, having an IPC-certified trainer on staff will allow new or re-assigned employees to learn how to adhere to IPC standards sooner and without leaving the plant. Nexergy decided several years ago to invest both financial and human capital into manufacturing the battery management circuitry required in today’s sophisticated lithium-ion battery packs as a way to improve quality and shorten lead times for the custom battery packs and chargers it designs and produces. “While most battery pack manufacturers have opted to outsource their battery management circuits, we place great emphasis here on our quality initiatives and customer responsiveness,” said Nexergy president and CEO Phil Glandon. “Shortening their time to market is essential to our customers, and being able to control more aspects of production as part of a fully-integrated strategy is a valuable, strategic capability we offer.” “Now that Moose carries IPC certification as a trainer, we will be able to quickly and cost effectively train all of our operators on the critical knowledge and skills required to produce the highest quality printed circuit assemblies” says Jim West, engineering manager. “Our commitment to IPC quality standards is a strong demonstration to our customers of our commitment to in-house continuous process improvements.” IPC, Association Connecting Electronics Industries, is recognized within the electronics manufacturing industry as the worldwide standards-setting organization. The standard on which Moose earned his certification governs materials, methods and verification criteria for producing high quality soldered interconnections. Specific course instruction covered wires and terminals, through hole technology, surface mount technology and inspection. # # About Nexergy: With more than 20 years of experience, Nexergy is a leading designer, integrator and manufacturer of battery packs and chargers that enable electronic products to be more dependable, smaller, lighter, and longer-running.
