High Current Lithium Ion
Battery Pack Design:

Our customer was developing a curing lamp powered by a rechargeable battery pack. Lithium Ion was the preferred chemistry because it provided the required run time at the lowest weight. However, the lamp's high current drain required that the pack contain 6 cells (3 in series and 2 in parallel) and a voltage-boosting regulator to achieve the 12V output. The space needed to put 6 cells in the handle was very undesirable. Nexergy found a high drain Lithium Ion cell and designed a high efficiency regulator with very low voltage drop, which allowed us to create a pack that could provide the desired run time with only four cells.
